German girl reaches the Pacific Ocean

Standard

Our California trip with our German Exchange Student and Daughter would not be complete without a stop at the Pacific Ocean! We spent some time at Newport Beach where it was cold and windy after having breakfast with a friend of mine from 12News in Phoenix, and his wife in Orange, California.

We walked on the Pier for a short time but it was colder and windier there… so we hit the beach for awhile… or at least long enough to take pictures! You will see that Lara was wrapped in a blanket the whole time. Both girls put their feet in the water but didn’t go much further. The water was freezing! The temperature was in the 70’s…which is cold for Arizonans!

It was definitely relaxing before our drive back to Phoenix! Enjoy the pictures!

  1. I used to live in Venice, California back in 1984; your photos brought back memories. Venice is north of Newport Beach.

I have been hitchhiking the United States for most of 16 years. Here is a post that I wrote about Newport, Oregon:

I had a book published in January of this year:

“The First Time I Rode a Freight Train & other hitchhiking stories”
